I couldn't be more pleased that you've found me!

I currently live in Colorado Springs, CO, where I teach private lessons, direct African Drum & Dance classes, and play percussion as much as possible.  I'm married to a low brass player in the band at Fort Carson, and we have a German Shepherd, a Saint Bernard, and a Tuxedo Cat.  When I'm not making music, I enjoy ballroom dancing, martial arts, water sports, traveling, and of course spending time with my family.

I received a Master's Degree in Percussion Performance with a Minor in Ethnomusicology from Indiana University in 2015.  I spent one year at Ithaca College before graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Percussion Performance at Colorado State University in December 2011.  I've studied with a variety of fantastic percussionists, includingGordon Stout, Kevin Bobo, Eric Hollenbeck, Bernard Woma, Steve Hearn, and Fara Tolno.  Past performance experience includes: PASIC New Music Literature Session 2010; Colorado State University Concerto Competition winner 2011; Streetmosphere Soloist 2012; Falé African Drum and Dance Collective of Fort Collins; collegiate level orchestra, wind ensemble, percussion ensemble, steel pan ensemble, jazz combo, and pit orchestra; Youth Orchestra of the Rockies; Denver Young Artists Orchestra; and community level band, orchestra, and pit orchestras.

Classical marimba and African drums are my two favorite instruments to play. However, I believe in well rounded musicianship, and I try to improve myself and my students every day in all areas of percussion.  Please browse my website at your leisure, and be sure to send me an email with any questions or comments!

Staci Toma, Percussionist

I strongly believe that music unites all people.  I've studied many kinds of music from several parts of the world, and I have discovered that musicians all speak one language, even though the words may have different dialects.

Music is the

      universal language...
